Here's our personal favourites from the 2013 Geneva motor show
A little bit cheeky, slightly quirky and definitely eye-catching. The Captur, midway between the Nissan Juke and Qashqai in size, is further evidence of the surge of confidence running through Renault at the moment. Jim Holder
The Sergio – a tribute to the company's late boss – looked awesome. The first time I saw it in pictures, I wondered which end the front was. In the metal – or rather, carbonfibre – I was just glad I saw it. Original, unusual, beautiful; I'm sure the man himself would have approved. Matt Saunders
It's not even the LaFerrari itself that floats my boat - it's probably too quick for me - but the melodrama that surrounds it. Ron Dennis stands arms folded looking disapproving. Gordon Murray checks it out. All the rivals have a little look, a little nod, a little frown. It's playground stuff, but endlessly amusing. Matt Prior
The crowds were bigger over at Ferrari, but there's no mistaking the pedigree of McLaren's new hypercar. The aero package promises to equal the sophistication of an F1 car and the adjustable chassis promises brilliant handling. Significantly, McLaren promises the P1 will be very special even at lower speeds. Epic. Julian Rendell
Controversial name aside, the Provo was a real hit for me. It looked like the lovechild of a Mini hatchback and a Nissan Juke; something that could have gone badly wrong, but actually ended up looking quite right. That such a cool and interesting car can wear a Kia badge without anyone questioning the reasoning behind it is perhaps its biggest success of all. Mark Tisshaw
For real world relevance, no car in Geneva this year mattered more than Volkswagen's new seventh-generation Golf GTI. If the giant strides made by its less powerful siblings are anything to go by, Wolfsburg's latest hot hatch promises to be nothing short of brilliant. Greg Kable
Built as a one-off for an avid Aston Martin collector, the reinterpretation of the Rapide as a shooting brake looked (to my eyes) more striking than Gaydon's revised production version elsewhere at the show. Matt Burt
My Geneva star is the Nissan Leaf, the longer-range version to be made in the UK at Nissan's Sunderland plant. I approve of the nose job over the current car and Nissan's underlying principles, and suspect it'll need all the help it can get. Steve Cropley
Muscularly cut, potent and immensely appealing, the lightly revised, still-evolving NSX was shaded by the Ferrari and McLaren hypercars. But this is an encouraging sign Honda's feisty side. Please build it, soon. Richard Bremner
